Isn’t She CUTE!

But what if you couldn’t care for the puppy, Candy?  You can’t find anyone to take her and you want her to have a good home with owners that will love and take care of it.  What do you do?  Your thought is to take it to the Fort Worth Humane Society or also known as the HSNT - Humane Society of North Texas.  You think they’ll find a nice home for Candy, right? WRONG!!!!!

My son and his roommates did just that.  That took Candy to the Humane Societ of North Texas thinking they would find a good home for her.  Within hours after she was brought in she was “taken out” or for lack of better words - Killed!  I sent an email at 1:38AM after I found out about it and wanted to adopt her back.  I had a call by 8:30 the next morning saying “Candy, is no longer with us."  They didn’t even give her 24 hours to be adopted.  This was a healthy puppy, not even a year old.

I was hysterical!  An email was sent asking how could they do this?  My reply was that they get over 100 dogs a day at times and only a handfull are adoptived.  They don’t have the room or the money to keep more dogs.  What they don’t tell you is that when you leave a dog, it has about a 95% chance of being killed within the day it was brought in.

Can you believe this?  I was shocked!  There are other alternatives.  There is a place in Haltom City that tries to have pets adopted.  Please try anything or anyone before you take your dog to the HSNT.  Don’t buy a dog if you are not committed to loving, feeding and taking care of it for the long term.  I was told that more dogs are brought in right before school starts.  WHY?

You might ask yourself why a Realtor would concern herself with this.  Anything and any business that is not living up to it’s purpose affects our community.  Our community affects our Real Estate, thus my business.    I am an animal lover and don’t want to see this happen to others.  Dogs don’t have a choice.  Make the choice for them and give them a chance to be loved!
